RED HORSE
Senior Airman Kevin Downey, vehicle maintenance journeyman with the 1st Expeditionary Rapid Engineer Deployable Heavy Operational Repair Squadron Engineers (RED HORSE) Group, uses an air ratchet to secure a bumper bolt to a tractor while Staff Sgt. Nathan Sanders, special purpose vehicle maintenance journeyman with the 1st Expeditionary RED HORSE Group, holds the nut in place Aug. 11, 2008, at an undisclosed air base in Southwest Asia. Airman Downey and Sergeant Sanders are salvaging parts from an unserviceable truck and transferring to a useable truck in order to send it out to the field. The 1st Expeditionary RED HORSE Group performs heavy repair and construction projects throughout the US Central Command’s area of responsibility. Airman Downey, a native of Fulton, Mo., and Sergeant Sanders, a native of Ringgold, Ga., are both deployed from Misawa Air Base, Japan, in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom and Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa.
