Iraq brings father, son together for career milestone
JOINT BASE BALAD, Iraq -- Staff Sgt. Markeven Swenson accepts his promotion from Brig. Gen. Brian Bishop at a 332nd Air Expeditionary Wing promotion ceremony here July 31. Sergeant Swenson’s father, Senior Master Sgt. Kevin Swenson, flew in from Forward Operating Base Marez during his four-day rest-and-relaxation period to tack on his son’s stripes. Sergeant Markeven Swenson, a firefighter with the 332nd Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron here, is deployed from Moody Air Force Base, Ga. His father, a ground radio communications maintenance technician, is deployed from Yokota Air Base, Japan. General Bishop is the 332nd AEW commander.
