Patriot Missile Weapon System
A Patriot Missile Weapon System is readied by Soldiers from the 3-43 Air Defense Artillery Battalion who are deployed from Fort Bliss, Ga., at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, Jan. 22, 2014. The Patriot is the Army’s primary surface-to-air missile system and also functions as an anti-ballistic missile system, which protects the base from air and missile attacks. The Patriot is the only anti-ballistic missile system to have successfully engaged and destroyed a tactical ballistic missile in combat. (U.S Air Force photo/Senior Airman Hannah Landeros)
