U.S. Senior Airman Aigerim Akhmetova, 8th Expeditionary Air Mobility Squadron C-17 supply clerk, is shown in a photo in the late 1980s in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Akhmetova family was affected by the food shortage during a time when Kazakhstan was a prior Soviet republic. The difficulties her family faced ultimately made her a stronger and goal driven person leading her to become a candidate for Officer Training School. (Courtesy photo)
