Grandfather’s World War II legacy continued by pilot grandson
2nd Lt. Harry Burdette(top right), 379th Bombardment B-17 Flying Fortress pilot, shown here with his crew at Kimbolton, England, is the grandfather of Capt. Shawn Jensen, now an RC-135 Rivet Joint pilot with the 763rd Expeditionary Reconnaissance Squadron. His grandfatherarrived at Kimbolton in Sept. 1943 and was shot down in late Nov. during a mission over Germany. He became a prisoner of war for the next 18 months.
