Deployed maintenance Airmen enable 40-year-old AWACS mission
An E-3 Sentry taxis into place after a sortie May 25, 2017, at an undisclosed location in southwest Asia. The E-3 Sentry houses the Airborne Warning and Control System which provides situational awareness, command and control, battle management, surveillance and early warning of friendly, neutral and hostile activity during joint, allied, and coalition operations.
