F-35A Lightning II hot pit refueling
U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Kurt Anderson, 380th Air Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron avionics journeyman, executes a hot pit refueling of an F-35A Lightning II on the Al Dhafra Air Base flightline, United Arab Emirates, Jan. 29, 2020. A hot pit refueling is the process in which ground crew Airmen refuel an aircraft while its engines are still running, minimizing the time required to get the aircraft airborne again. This is the first-time that an F-35 has been hot-pit refueled at Al Dhafra Air Base. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Anna-kay Ellis)
