Honoring the memory
The Air Force memorial honoring Senior Airman Bradley Smith Airman (right) was relocated next to the memorial honoring Airman 1st Class Raymond Losano at Camp Losano, Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan, Oct. 24, 2013. The Smith memorial was previously held in Camp Bradley Smith, KAF. According to Senior Master Sgt. Brian Gross, 451st Air Expeditionary Wing, the memorials should remind everyone of all the Airmen who have come before and the sacrifices they’ve made. The decision to move the Smith memorial came as part of the drawdown of U.S. forces in Afghanistan. Camp Losano will remain the primary living area for permanent party Airmen at KAF. When it’s time to move the memorials again, they will either be sent to the home stations of the Airmen they honor or take up residence at the Enlisted Heritage Hall at Maxwell Air Force Base, Gunter Annex, Ala.
