Military Appreciation Day

American School of Doha
The American School of Doha hosted service members from Al Udeid Air Base and Camp As Sayliyah for Military Appreciation Day on Feb. 7, 2014. The day’s festivities afforded Airmen, Soldiers, Sailors and Marines the opportunity to use all the school’s athletic facilities and participate in a variety of sports. Key speakers thanking the military for its continued support to the local community were Dr. Phillip Stroup, ASD director of development and External Relations; Dr. Deborah Welch, director of American School of Doha; Brig Gen. Roger Watkins, 379th Air Expeditionary Wing commander; Col. William Wozniak, Area Support Group commander; and Mr. Ian McCary, deputy chief of Mission, U.S. Embassy-Doha. “Hypersonic,” the band assigned to U.S. Air Forces Central Command, performs for 150 8th graders from the American School of Doha at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, Mar. 10, 2014. The 379th Air Expeditionary Wing hosted a field trip for ASD students, from 73 countries and showcased the variety of capabilities in the U.S. Air Force. The AFCENT band concluded the day performing a variety of hit songs that got the Airmen and children singing and dancing. Members of “Hypersonic” are currently deployed from Yokota Air Base, Japan.
