Grandslam Airman wins ACC ground safety award
U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Darren Hartford, 379th Air Expeditionary Wing commander, presents Senior Airman Brandon Roell, 379th Expeditionary Medical Support Squadron radiology technologist, with an Award of Distinction for his outstanding contribution to ground safety, Nov. 28, 2014, at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar. While reading the American Journal of Roentgenology, Roell discovered that new computed tomography (CT) parameters have the potential to reduce a patient's radiation dose while maintaining the quality of the diagnostic images. He used this knowledge, combined with his previous experience, to engineer new CT scanning protocols, which ultimately results in improved safety for patients.
