AAF takes lead on maintenance inspection
An Afghan Air Force Intermediate Maintenance Squadron engine-body technician inspects a tail rotor gearbox on a Mi-17 helicopter at Shindand Air Base, Afghanistan as part of a 100-hour phase inspection. The inspection, which began Nov. 17, 2013, was the first Afghan-led, managed and controlled inspection. Advisors with NATO Air Training Command-Afghanistan helped set the conditions for success by working with their Afghan counterparts to plan the inspection.
