The 387th Air Expeditionary Group welcomed a new commander during a change of command ceremony here, June 3.

Col. Henry Triplett, 386th Air Expeditionary Wing commander, officiated the ceremony and led the symbolic change of leadership by the passing of the guidon from Col. John F. Borowski to Col. Joshua B. Pyers.

“I am honored to join the men and women of the 387th and to know that I’m surrounded by the best the Air Force has to offer,” said Pyers. “I feel very privileged to command such a professional organization with such a diverse mission. I look forward to thwarting the mission throughout the [area of responsibility] and we will strive together to get the right people the right supplies to the right place at the right time. I know the 387th will make the mission happen. I know the airmen will make it better during their rotations. We will make a lasting legacy for those who will deploy after us.”

Borowski thanked and praised his family, the 387th Air Expeditionary Group and wing leadership for their efforts, dedication and teamwork over the last year.

“Airmen of the 387th AEG, having the chance to support you was the reason I deployed here,” said Borowski. “You never failed to impress, you always moved the mission and you should be proud of the work you did. Thanks for the opportunity to lead you.”

Col. Triplett shared a few words during the ceremony and welcomed Pyers to the 387th.

“Today we acknowledge and celebrate the accomplishments of the 387th AEG under the compassionate and engaging leadership under Col. Borowski,” said Triplett. “We transfer those achievements to Col. Pyers as a foundation of which he’ll build a firm footing to lead the AEW towards the future - ready to respond to whatever [Air Forces Central Command] needs from the 387th.”
