Capt. David Vuong, 455th Expeditionary Medical Operations Squadron pharmacist, is responsible for keeping the pharmacy fully stocked with medications to treat patients at Bagram keeping them fit to fight in order to support the mission.

Vuong’s primary focus is on the medication aspect of health care. Being in a deployed environment, it’s common for patients to come in with war related injuries. Vuong makes sure each patient that comes through the Craig Joint Theatre Hospital is fully medicated with the proper medicine.

“As a drug expert, it’s my job to get the right drug, to the right patient, in the right dose at the right time,” Vuong said. “If the pharmacy were not here, folks wouldn’t be able to get their medication. If that happens, then we’d be taking military members out of the fight and shops would be undermanned thus hindering the mission. The pharmacy definitely plays a large role in the care of our military members.”

Vuong is part of the ‘1000s of Hands’ of 455 AEW Airmen who are crucial to the wing’s mission to generate and sustain airpower on the combat frontier of Afghanistan’s NATO’s Resolute Support mission and Operation Freedom’s Sentinel. The ‘1000s of Hands’ project highlights Vulture Airmen who have a hand in delivering a blanket of steel, technology and courage to protect the force in the field and support Afghan National Defense and Security Forces.
