• Ready and responsive: 386th AEW AMDEX 21-02

    The 386th Air Expeditionary Wing at Ali Al Salem Air Base, Kuwait, completed an Air and Missile Defense Exercise 21-02, April 21, 2021. AMDEX is a semi-annual U.S. Air Forces Central-led exercise that develops and exercises tactics, techniques and procedures against simulated air, force protection and missile threats. Multiple locations throughout the U.S. Central Command theater participated in this event over the course of multiple days.

  • Kingpin command and control ops begin at Shaw

    The 727th Expeditionary Air Control Squadron officially began full operations from Shaw Air Force Base, S.C., on April 20, 2021, after 10 years of operations at Al Dhafra Air Base, UAE.   In total, more than 150 U.S. Air Force Airmen and coalition partners belonging to the 727th EACS have repositioned from Al Dhafra Air Base to Shaw AFB.  The unit will continue to maintain a presence at Al Dhafra and other bases throughout the U.S. Air Forces Central’s theater to support its mission and regional partnerships.
  • 379th Expeditionary Maintenance Group awarded the Citation of Honor, David C. Schilling Award

    The 379th EMXG was awarded the Citation of Honor, and the 379th Expeditionary Air Maintenance Squadron received the David C. Schilling award – both are aerospace awards sponsored by the AFA, which is a non-profit organization that aims to promote public understanding of aerospace power and its critical role in national security. Their national aerospace awards are announced yearly at their Air, Space & Cyber Conference in Washington D.C.

    The 386th Expeditionary Maintenance Squadron munitions flight at Ali Al Salem Air Base, Kuwait, receives, stores, transports, inspects, assembles, packs, and ships all explosives for permanent party use and coalition partners. They primarily provide defensive countermeasures for cargo airlift and air-to-ground weapons for mission operations.

  • AFCENT hosts ‘Coalition Week’, welcomes partners to Shaw AFB

    Senior military representatives from nine countries traveled to Shaw Air Force Base this week to participate in “Coalition Week,” a series of events focused on showcasing 9th Air Force’s (U.S. Air Forces Central) ability to distribute operations and command and control airpower from more than one location. Twenty six coalition members, who are currently assigned to the Combined Air Operations Center at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, traveled here to attend numerous partnership events hosted by 9th AF (AFCENT) and the 20th Fighter Wing.
