    EM, Fire Dawgs stay ready through HAZMAT Exercise

    The 380th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron Fire Department and Emergency Management flights conducted an outdoor hazardous material exercise at Al Dhafra Air Base, Jan. 4.

    Crew Chiefs: The First and the Last for the Mission

    The aircraft is scheduled to land in 10 minutes and Airmen rally up to gather their gear. Reflective belts; laptops full of instructions and technical orders; and giant tool boxes the size of a dresser or wardrobe are checked out and taken on their way to their destination. The Airmen gather to the parking spot, while the aircraft is taxiing down the flight line. At least two of them make sure everything is in order for the aircrew to deplane. Meanwhile, another is tasked to be the aircraft marshaller, who is skilled in communicating with personnel taxiing or operating the aircraft on the ground using some of the 87 ground movement signals for all aircraft.

    A “Melting Pot” is defined as a process of blending that often results in invigoration or novelty or a place where a variety of individuals assimilate into a cohesive whole. The 380th Expeditionary Maintenance Group maintenance operations center ensures fast and effective ways of communicating everything from flying schedules, weather notifications and aircraft engine status and availability throughout Al Dhafra Air Base, United Arab Emirates.

    The American Chopper of Aircraft Maintenance

    With the eight-13 hour flights the aircraft of the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing have on a daily basis, some parts of the aircraft can wear down, crack or break over periods of time. The 380th Expeditionary Maintenance Squadron fabrication flight, also known as “Fab Flight” or the “American Chopper” of aircraft maintenance at Al Dhafra Air Base, United Arab Emirates, is in charge of identifying and repairing aircraft structural damage. They fix whatever can be broken, from a metal panel off the side of a KC-10 Extender to a tiny cracked screw the size of a fingernail.

    Providing Power, Maintaining Barriers at ADAB

    Imagine this: a fighter aircraft has no power resistance to catch it, causing it to run off the runway upon landing. Or this: a major power outage inside a medical treatment facility keeps patients from receiving care. How does Al Dhafra Air Base, United Arab Emirates prevent these life-threatening scenarios from happening? That’s where the 380th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron electrical power production flight comes in.

    EOD 134 Memorial Workout

    U.S. Airmen assigned to the 380th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron Explosive Ordnance Disposal flight hosted the EOD 134 Memorial Workout, Nov. 30, 2018. 380th Air Expeditionary Wing Airmen, along with coalition partners, participated in the annual workout to honor the 134 EOD technicians from the U.S. Air Force, Army, Navy and Marine Corps that have been killed since Sept. 11, 2001.

    CDDAR: ADAB, AFCENT's Team Executes Training

    AL DHAFRA AIR BASE, United Arab Emirates -- Aircraft maintainers assigned to the 380th Expeditionary Maintenance Group joined together and conducted aircraft familiarization training at Al Dhafra Air Base, United Arab Emirates, Nov. 14-21. If an accident were to transpire, be it a fatal crash or an aircraft running off the flight line, the Crash Damaged or Disabled Aircraft Recovery team, composed of Airmen throughout the 380th EMXG, would be called into place immediately.
