    Ali Al Salem Air Base, Kuwait, is home to thousands of U.S. Air Force Airmen, U.S. Army Soldiers and coalition forces. Day and night, defenders from the 386th Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron can be seen roaming the base, scanning the perimeter and ensuring that no threat comes close to the base. But another unseen protector also watches over the base, keeping its eye toward the sky, scanning for threats from above.

  • Defenders reinforce IED awareness, response

    Members assigned to the 386th Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron participated in an improvised explosive device and unexploded ordnance familiarization course at Ali Al Salem Air Base, Kuwait, Dec. 2, 2020. ESFS leaders partnered with 386th Civil Engineer Squadron explosive ordnance disposal members to conduct the course, which aimed to reinforce IED and UXO identification skills, as well as tactical combat casualty care applications in field conditions.

  • Dirt boys elevate radar, increase capabilities

    Members assigned to the 386th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron structures unit supported the U.S. Army 3-2 Air Defense Artillery Battalion by creating an elevated foundation for an AN/MQP-64 Sentinel radar system at Ali Al Salem Air Base, Kuwait, Nov. 23, 2020. The elevated structure will increase the unit’s detection range for unmanned aerial systems, in turn, expediting a short-range air defense weapons response.
  • ASAB Airmen perform MAAS certification

    Members assigned to the 386th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron electrical power production unit and fire department partnered with the 407th Expeditionary Operations Support Squadron and the 386th Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron to perform a Mobile Aircraft Arresting System certification for an F-16 Fighting Falcon assigned to the 480th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron. MAAS certification enables ASAB airfield units to maintain readiness for safe fighter aircraft diverts to the runway.
  • Marauders RADR exercise

    The explosive ordnance disposal team reported that the area was safe. Having confirmed that the runway was hit multiple times, the 386th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron sent out Airmen to assess and repair the damage. Multiple craters were found, but the damage was enough to render the long slab of concrete useless, halting the mission of the 386th Air Expeditionary Wing at Ali Al Salem Air Base, Kuwait. This was the simulated precursor to the Rapid Airfield Damage Recovery training exercise held on ASAB, Nov. 16, 2020.
